Classes/Workshops


Museum Glassworks is a hot-glass teaching facility owned and operated by the National Bottle Museum . It is located in a small community garage just off Rt. 50 on Washington Street in the Village of Ballston Spa, NY.

Classes in “Flameworking” aka “Lampworking” are offered on a regular basis and conducted by resident artists.

Special classes by guest instructors of renown are offered as one or two day special weekend events.

Regular classes on Tuesday evenings and Saturdays are available in two hour increments. Students have an opportunity to learn to create glass beads, art-glass marbles, jewelry, and small sculptures in a relaxed recreational atmosphere.

Prices: Lessons are $25/hr and studio time is $17.50/hr. Class and individual instruction is $25.00/hr given in 2 hour increments ($50.00).  Prices are all-inclusive, no extra fees.

A wealth of information is available for those wishing to pursue formal training leading to a full time career in the field of glass.

Special Classes

Murrini and Cane Design
On April 14th, The Glassworks Studio at the National Bottle Museum will host a one day class "Murrini and Cane Design" by our favorite teacher, Sally Prasch. This class will be useful to both Soft Glass and Borosilicate enthusiasts. An entire day will be devoted to building murrini and decorative cane. This class will be $150.00 and will start at 9:30 and end at 4:30. We will break for lunch (usually at one of our local delicatessens). Please arrive 15 minutes before class starts!
     
Regular Classes

Make BEADS, PENDANTS, SMALL FIGURES, etc.
Tuesdays from 5 to 9 pm (Classes offered in TWO HOUR increments.)
Saturdays from 10 to 4 pm (Classes offered in TWO HOUR increments.)
Maximum of 6 Students (first come, first served).
Cost: $25/hr, $50 for two
